ABOUT
Using animals (and the great outdoors) as a therapeutic resource for predominantly, but not exclusively, mental health, challenging and offending behaviours.
We pride ourselves on being INCLUSIVE, not EXCLUSIVE meaning that we will work with you to meet your needs, not ask you to fit a description.
We aim to tailor your visit to your individual needs and wishes as much as we can so contact us to discuss.
Currently based on the border of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire we are incredibly lucky to be able to provide a service to a wide area.
Our team and band of volunteers are all experienced and qualified in many areas including Psychology, Teaching, Art, Floristry, Looked After Children, Elderly, Self-harm, Mental Health, Children, Teenagers, Adults, and much more.
See the 'Services' tab for more information.
Where It All Began...
Experiencing my own childhood trauma led to my own fascination with Psychology, human behaviour and child development. A chance meeting and spur of the moment “you only live once” decision led to the purchase of two Kune Kune piglets in July 2008. Philli and Delilah became a huge part of the family and while I spent the next year sitting in a field revising for my exams with the extra boost of piggy kisses, the unexpected realisation of how much they helped me began to dawn.
I began to experience the way in which an animal has the power to be therapeutic without you even looking for it. They listen, they don’t judge, they can’t point out your flaws, they provide endless unconditional love and they bring out all the good hormones that make things feel just a little bit okay for a while.
Fast forward to the end of 2016 and a series of events made me think “why not now?” and with that, Delilah’s Umbrella was born.
